Project Picture--- 3rd skin

These are the images of my 3rd skin. I extracted the shape of the ivy leaf, which was my nature inspiration. I also was inspired of my celebration story which was about me "coming into my own and becoming a lady." Therefore the shape of my leaf really went along well with that journey. This is mainly because there are so many branches of the leaf, that really the journey could take you anywhere. The light passes through both the sides through the screens and also through the holes that I made to allow shadows to be cast onto the other screens as well.

Final Passageways Model:Hierarchy

This is my model of hierarchy. I used the white cardboard and thick black paper. Within this model we had to incorporate a scale model. I made mine out of copper wire. I decided to make a scale model that was more abstract being that my projects was an abstract concept. I used different heights which created different levels to show hierarchy. Also each square is something the person in my story has to overcome. They act as internal hurdles. That is how I created hierarchy

These are the thumbnails that are inspired of from my passageway project. 

WALL THAT CELEBRATES MY ARTIFACT:

These are pictures of our wall that we had to create. We had to use the structure of our wall to celebrate our artifact. The artifact that I created was a belt. So for the structure of my wall I created a curved corner wall, because I wanted to emphasize the curve of my belt. I picked a luminous fabric to cover the corner wall in order to make my artifact really become celebrated. 

PASSAGE--->TRANSITION:

This is my passageway project. I incorporated all of the white/black materials along with one linear piece to show transition from light and dark. I also wanted to use the linear piece at the end of my white piece. I decided to make it black because I wanted to show that like in my fairy tale their were a lot of dark moments and they stuck until the very end.  However, there was also a lot of light and happy moments throughout my story.  So for that very reason, just so happens to be why I did not cut the white piece. In this particular fairy tale happiness triumphs.

This is my illustration board of my fairy tale called the "Riddle."

My Wearable Artifact-A BELT: Process

These first two images are of my final wearable artifact. I am modeling it. The belt is to consist of three different colored fabrics. These fabrics are representative of the many moods of the story. The black represents the dark moments within the story, the pale silver is indicative of the mediocre moments of the story, and the metallic teal represents the happy moments of the story. I also decided to use a wrapping/ weaving technique in order to portray how the story is comprised of many different moods. 

This picture is showing the fabrics, the colors, and the weaving technique that I used to create my wearable artifact. 


These last two images are of my sketch model of my belt. My sketch model is made of chip board, and I only made it eighteen inches.I also did not make the belt buckle connect to the other end of the belt. However, these are all issues I resolved in my final model. 

FAIRY TALES--LIFE IS BUT A FAIRY TALE

This first picture is of my illuminated letter that I did for my fairy tale story, "The Riddle." I wanted to make the page pop so that is why I chose to use this technique. Within the letter I incorporated ideas and things from the fairy tale. Within my story, there is a king, his servant, the kings son, evil old lady, and a lovely princess. The king, the son, and the servant embark on travel and become lost. So they get taken in by an evil lady. She kills the king's horse with an evil potion. Therefore, they had no choice but to set out into the unknown on foot. They all three finally come across a nice village. Here, the king's son meets a beautiful princess and she tells him that, " the man who can present her with a riddle that she cannot solve, will become her husband." And so it was the king's son who did it, after nine men had tried, he had given her a riddle she could not solve. Then they were married and lived happily ever after.
So I drew this second picture of trees and forest and quotes of riddles and love because it reminded me of them embarking on their journey. They both found love ....and they didn't expect to find it.
